The scene may look tranquil and still now but this area of Cornwall has had its far share of tragedy. Extensive mining in the 19th & early 20th Century saw many lives cut short in the days before Health & Safety. I have spent many hours around these former mine buildings admiring the beauty of the scene. However, I never forget those who lost their lives in this area of outstanding beauty.
